So a few months back I posted a few pics and videos from the Kansai Allstar event qualifier I went to. On a whim I qualified for the main event using Takatori’s lhd 240sx he built as a practice car. So for this event he was kind enough to let me use it again. So the night before was spent picking up the car, doing fluid changes and fixing rear camber since my 18×10 Model5 didn’t fit under his rear fenders. Honestly I didn’t think much about this event…but as it turns out…it’s HUGE
Huge as in 130 car’s huge…
You can kinda see the black 240 here…and then 129 guys better than me!
Driving this car was actually bad for me, since driving the S15 so much the previous 2-3weeks I had gotten slightly more comfortable with the rhd…but after getting into this this I was hitting the door with my left hand going for the shiter and other dumb crap like that. I got my practice runs but I had the rear tire pressure too low and it was hard to keep the wheels spinning. I guess my car has a tad more power than this one does. So fixed that and went into the judged rounds and totally choked…all there is to it lol. The realization that I was being judged by Naoki Nakamura, Kuroi, Kawabata and Takatori all of D1, along with the thought of crashing someone else’s car kept me from really going hard. Needless to say I didn’t make it past the 1st round. All those red shirts are us Kyoto folk!
So I stuck around and hung out in the Origin booth and took some pics here and there…but it was HOT so I just stayed in the shade as much as possible. Kyoto local and Team Origin/Stance driver Teramachi was able to take 3rd, along with best performance of the day as judged by Kuroi:
In the afternoon I ate some topogi that a random stand was selling, and took a nap in Masato’s fit for about an hour…I was awoken by a crapload of sound coming from the track. I didn’t sound like normal runs…you know 1 or 2 or 3 at a time..no this was something I had to see for myself. And this is what I saw…pure madness!
The 1st car out is Nakamura of burst, and the white S15 is Osaka native Kawabata of GP sports fame. I almost certain I will never see something as awesome as this in person again. I find it harder and harder to be impressed these days…but this is just downright….raw. While watching I counted 34 cars on track at once. I went home happy this day and I didn’t even drive well. This is KANSAI

AMAZING!!!!
The amazing thing is that there are so many drivers of high level.
Reminds me of Tsukuba D1 in 2003 or 4 when they all were teaming up in 5 man teams.
