Headed to Kibou-ken with Masa and Misaki for seriously the best tonkotsu ramen you have ever had.
Side of karaage and a small chyashu-don. Perfection

MSC recently put out their 2009 schedule. I am for sure going to try and make the April 26th round at Suzuka Twin as well as the Meihan round in October. I may also try and get to the YZ event, but that place scared me! Time to get either get this 15 figured out or get a new car!
In other news: I have been listening to this great net radio station a lot recently, Buzzoutroom. I tuned in and heard this Tycho track I had never heard before, and it became a favorite of mine instantly.
Although I love the JZX110, I also wonder about getting something a little less common. I’ve always liked the lines of the C35 Laurel, and I was looking through a few used car sites for them. I ran across this one, it would be so perfect…outside is nice and simple, nothing but a front lip and big wheels with a sick low stance. Perfect for touge:
Just a lip on an oem bumper with oem aero package all around….so my style! Awesome fitment on the Advan RS as well, just adds to the whole street style of this HUGE car. This one is down in Osaka so I may run down and peep it this weekend!?
But the best part is under the hood:
BAM! Freshly rebuilt RB26 using twin HKS GT2530 along with cams and various other mods. According to the car’s fs page, this makes over 500hp. I could deal with that. As you can see it also seems spot-welded. Low key with 500hp…Yes please
I told myself I would do these in order, but after picking up this months magazine and seeing the content of this month’s column, I decided to throw it up asap. There is a lot of talk about knuckle mods on the forum right now, so I thought this was a good read.
This month’s write-up deals with new modified knuckles from a shop up in Hokkaido called “D-Fida” for both the NA & NB chassis. Rather than open a new hole, they have cut and welded the knuckle like many shops do for more popular platforms like the Silvia and RX-7, shortening the rod end pickup 10mm. Click here for a close-up of the knuckle.
You can see the welded D-Fida knuckle on the left and the oem with hole drilled on the right. While the welded knuckle wont get as much angle as the oem with a hole, according to the article Yamamoto’s NA with 15×8 +5 with 195/45 doesn’t rub at the fender or at the control arm any longer.
As you can see with the 1st picture up top, and the above picture here, the knuckle with a 5mm tie rod spacer offers plenty of angle. It is also said that after using the modified oem knuckle for a few events, Yamamoto planned on returning to a stock oem knuckle with just a 5mm spacer. Reason being, he was having to much trouble with rubbing, and bumpsteer. Both of these problems seem to have been solved with the new knuckle.
Like I said, there has been a lot of interest in this angle mod, and Chelsea of level7TUNEis now offering a custom knuckle himself. Be sure to check it out if you are interested. Of course, if someone wants these Di-Fida knuckles let me know as I’d be happy to help you guys get them.
Enjoy the full scan! Yamamoto’s red NA6 with Arios aero always looks sick.
A few months ago I ran across The Jalopy Journal. I added it to my Google Reader and am always happy to see their updates.
Tons of great pictures, and even better articles for anyone into cars. I really enjoy the vintage photos, but really appreciate the great writing and research they goes into each article.
Click the above pics for their respective articles; just a few of my favorites. Add it to your bookmarks! Enjoy
I got a few goodies from some of my students for V-day today.
Some homemade cookies and cupcakes and such.
One of the girls knows I am into cars, so she made me a cookie car, lol
And in an unrelated note, some if you in Chicago remember a story I told regarding my ordinal numbers lesson…I thought this students bag was reminesent…
File 3, and its this cool female owned purple NA6.
According to the article she has been drifting Roadsters for 12 years, the whole time in this same NA6!
Power-wise, the car only has a air filter and headers. Apparently since the car is decently low, she has changed the headers out 4-5 times after breaking them. Interior is gutted, with a nice bubble knob and a newly acquired 35mm Nardi Classic that replaced a oem optional wood Nardi.
Exterior looks nice with the Garage Vary Type1 hood, Stage 21 front 1/2 spoiler and sides all painted in Nissan midnight pearl. Also has cleared out side and front winkers and OEM optional chrome side mirrors and rolled/pulled the front fenders around 20mm. I really like the low profile quad headlights as well. 14×8.5 SSR Mesh with Neova front and Nankang rears.
Full scan…DOZO
The 2nd in the series is this white NA8. To be honest, it isn’t anything special, but I want to get the whole series up asap so I am up to date with the new ones as they are published. This car, from the Tokyo area is making 180ps from use a Jackson supercharger and all the other basic supporting mods.
One of the things I do like about the car, are the low profile rectangular headlights. Very similar to those on the now infamous Arios democar. I’m not really a fan of the oem FD front winker, but it might work better on a better executed car. The smoothed out rear garnish with the number plate moved to the bumper…also not feeling it.
The coilovers are seldom seen Bridgestone NPG, with 8/5 spring rates. No angle mods and he says he likes to keep the car high if he goes off course…boo
But anyway, he drift his Roadster so thats cool. Enjoy the full scan! I’ll get the next one up asap, this issue’s is weak haha
Since May of last year Doriten has been running a small one or 2 page series about Roadsters, named “Roadster Sanctuary”. I’ve wanted to throw them up here for awhile, and just now finally got to it. The 1st, was this 2 page write up of this cool black NA8. According to the words, 170hp from a high comp engine using BP pistons and a 1.5mm head gasket and 260 cams. As you can see, it also has AE101 4throttles fed through a proper cf intake box . Also uses a 6speed from a NB chassis.
The car has front and rear Arios fenders, but if you look at the rear, he has used frp to make the fender a bit wider. Whats really cool, is his further use of frp to lower the fender arch about 2cm, making the car look a bit lower. The 8J +15 with 195/50-15 looks boss.
Front and rear used Silk Road coilovers with 12/10 spring rates, and all the arms use pillow bushings. If you look at the front, in addition to a rack spacer, he has also modified the knuckle for more angle.
And here is the full scan, enjoy!
